Sonos Ipad App
Setting up a 3 Zone system?
I have 2 zones in my house right now. LR is a wired 5.1 and kitchen has 2 speakers. My old receiver has a A – B button which I can toggle through 3 settings. I want to add a 3rd zone on the deck which would have a single wireless speaker. I would like to use the Ipad app to send itunes songs into the receiver and going to any combination of zones. I don’t want to use Sonos. I’m looking for the cheapest way to achieve this if it’s even possible. Do I need a new receiver? I like the pioneer system with the built in airplay, but I don’t think they make a 3 zone one. I like how you can get the app for your ipad for it. Do any of the apple products help like air express? Do I need a 3 zone system to do this? Someone told me I will need a 3 zone system with rca outputs and to get a transmitter and wireless amp?

You should be able to do three zones with a simple 3 way speaker switch box but to use the ipad and air play your going to need a more sophisticated receiver or system, there are 3 zone pioneer receivers but they are very expensive you may be able to do something with a simple airplay wireless speaker system or using DLNA and wireless speakers but DNLA will not work with your ipad as air play is apples answer to DLNA which is a windows based system…also air play works better and is going the way of the i-pod vs the mp3 player ie there are just many more choices available….the hardest part is going to be to get your i-pad to work with your current system especially if you want the same music playing in all zones at the same time….and i-pad control everywhere….those features will not come cheap, getting sound transfered from one zone to the next from a central station will be less expensive….and much easier to do…
